Marion is a biologist specialized in cardiovascular omics. She completed her PhD on omics in cardiac disease at University Medical Center Utrecht, using large sample size data such as the UK Biobank. She contributed to important initiatives such as the genome-wide association studies in stroke and heart failure subtypes.

After her PhD, Marion continued a postdoc in Amsterdam University Medical Center, continuing her research on omics in cardiac diseases. In addition, she has an honorary position at University College London and spent 5 months working in London for a project on intermediate-effect variants in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

Marion’s research focuses on unraveling the genetic architecture of (cardiac) diseases and identifying novel drug targets for cardiac diseases such as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and heart failure. She does so by establishing associations between omics, clinical outcomes, and other parameters and identifying which proteins involved are druggable.
